Study Visits in Scotland

On Monday 26th March and in the days following the Social Enterprise Exchange, there will be a number of study visit options available to allow delegates to experience social enterprises in action in Scotland.

 

If attending the world’s biggest social enterprise event isn’t reason enough to visit scotland, then an opportunity to experience our world famous hospitality and beautiful scenery will certainly make this an unforgettable trip of a lifetime!

 

 

Open Doors in Glasgow Social Enterprises

On Monday 26th March a number of Glasgow social enterprises will be holding an “open doors” day to allow delegates to visit organisations and exchange information and share best practice.

Youth Social enterprise seminar

Three Toronto social enterprises working with young people are attending The Social Enterprise Exchange. The organisers are delighted to announce an afternoon workshop/seminar on the theme of social enterprises supporting young people on Monday 26th March, 1pm – 4pm at KibbleWorks in Paisley – www.kibble.org. Entry is free to Social Enterprise Exchange delegates in the youth social enterprise field. This Canadian and UK gathering will facilitate a lively exchange of models, best practice and experiences in this highly significant area.

Highland Visit Programme

Leaving on March 28th, a visit will be organised for a one-night stay in the Scottish Highlands. Some of Scotland’s most exciting and inspiring social enterprises are based here and visitors will be treated to some breathtaking views. Wednesday 28th March      

10.00      Depart from Glasgow

12:35     Arrive at Kingussie

13:00     Visit & lunch at Caberfeidh Horizons book shop

14:30     Travel to Badaguish, in Cairngorm National Park

15:30     Tour of Badaguish Outdoor Centre

18:00     Dinner and overnight stay at Badaguish Outdoor Centre

Thursday 29 March         

09:00     Depart for Strathnairn, via Loch Ness

10:00     Visit with Care in Strathnairn

11:30     Travel to Inverness

12:00     Visit Ness Soap

13:00     Lunch at Artysans social enterprise cafe

14:30     Visit to New Start Highland

17:00     Arrive at Inverness Train station

17:22     Depart for Glasgow/Edinburgh

The cost of this visit is £325 + VAT per person and includes all meals, transportation and accommodation.

Argyll Visit Programme

On March 28th delegates will have the opportunity to embark on an overnight visit to Argyll, visiting some of the most innovative social enterprises in rural Scotland, while experiencing some of the beautiful scenery on the West Coast of Scotland.

Day 1 – Wednesday 28th March

08:00   Depart Glasgow

10:00   Argyll Training, Dunoon

11:30   Depart and travel to Loch Fyne

12:15   Lunch at Loch Fyne Oysters & talk

13:30   Here We Are Visit

14:00   Depart for Oban

16:00   Check in to Royal Hotel, Oban (bed & breakfast)

18.00   Dinner at Soroba House Hotel

- Phoenix Cinema will come to the hotel to give a talk on the plans for the cinema.

 

Day 2 – Thursday 29th March

08:45   Depart hotel for Atlantis Leisure

09:00   Presentation at Atlantis Leisure

10:30   Depart for Glencoe

11:30   Glencoe Visitor Centre for talk about association with National Trust Scotland, followed by exhibition.

12:30   Depart for Tyndrum

13:45   Lunch at Real Food Cafe

15:00   Arrochar Development Trust

16:00   Depart for Glasgow

17:00   Arrive in Glasgow

 

The cost of this visit is £299 + VAT per person and includes all meals, transportation, accommodation and entrance fees.
